The Tuk (short for Tuktoyuktuk) mass balance site was an old consolidated ridge. There was significant ridging activity around Tuk throughout the winter. By spring it was partially surrounded by a ring of rubble. The site had a thermistor string and ablation sites. Temperature measurements were made until late July when a mama bear and cub decided to floss their teeth with the thermistor cable. The schematic shows the stake number and initial ice thickness (in cm) in October 1997 for each of the gauges. Click on the gauges to see results.
