Two Tenure-Track Positions in Climate Change Science at Cornell

Cornell University has recently established a Climate Change Initiative as part of its Center for a Sustainable Future (CCSF, sustainablefuture.cornell.edu). The Center serves to focus and integrate the growing interest across departments in sustainability, as well as to generate real-world impacts. As part of the Climate Change Initiative, the Center is facilitating the hiring of several faculty members over the next three years in the biological and physical sciences, social sciences, engineering and humanities.

The Center seeks candidates with research interests focusing on understanding either coastal/regional phenomena or large-scale climate variability and predictability. Professional Research Assistant to manage meteorological datasets collected by the NOAA/ESRL/PSD Water Cycle Branch.

The Cooperative Institute for Research in the Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at CU-Boulder and the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratories (ESRL) Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSD) is seeking a Professional Research Assistant to manage meteorological datasets collected by the NOAA/ESRL/PSD Water Cycle Branch. Duties of this position include data acquisition, ingestion, quality assurance, archiving access and distribution. In addition, the computer system resources used to accomplish these duties will require basic levels of configuration, maintenance, and administration support. The incumbent will work with both real-time and historical (i.e., > 1 day old) datasets from in situ and remote sensors as well as numerical model output and will be required to manipulate those datasets by using commercial software packages, by modifying existing "in-house" software, and by developing new software to address evolving needs.

Management plans to revisit computational and storage
allocations on the Jet machines in Boulder. Please update
your project applications and/or submit new applications
by August 8th. Please bear in mind that hJet with over 2000
cores will be part of the new allocation. If all goes
well iJet will likely be decommissioned in the fall.
