Temperature and Humidity Profiling from Ground-based Sensors Today: How Good Are These Observations?

Abstract
Temperature and humidity profiles, especially in the planetary boundary layer, are critical to a wide range of research and operational applications. Furthermore, many applications require high temporal resolution, which are not provided by traditional measurement approaches. This presentation will discuss the accuracy, resolution, and information content of commercially available ground-based thermodynamic profilers, which will involve a brief detour into retrieval algorithms. He will demonstrate how these observations are being used to characterize a range of phenomena from atmospheric bores to convective initiation.
You must provide an accepted form of identification at the Visitor Center to obtain a vistor badge. Security personnel also inspect vehicles prior to entrance of the site. Please allow extra time for these procedures.
After receiving a badge, you must arrive at the DSRC Lobby at least 5 minutes before the seminar starts to meet your security escort. If you arrive after that time, you will not be allowed entry.
