Visual Observations: Almost cloudless day with light and variable winds.

Notable Events and Anecdotes: Many measurements were made today by the sun photometer zealots, between intense periods of sunbathing and viewing flying fish. Crew is preparing fishing tackle in anticipation of fish around the TAO buoy. Last night's HF communications were satisfactory between Mirai and RHB and between RHB and Nauru, but not between Nauru and Mirai.

Instrument Status: C-band radar is down again with the same problem - stripped set screws on motor drives to elevation gearbox. We will dismantle to drive train and attempt a more permanent fix.

Photographers await the perfect moment for capturing the impending sunset. High cirrus and low cumulus hold great promise. A few moments later the entire sea appeared deep red/pink as it reflected the skylight.
