Abstract

Communicating economic impacts of policies and programs is becoming increasingly important to policymakers and other community stakeholders. This seminar will highlight a variety of economic methodologies used in the estimation of economic impacts. Dr. Hill is a research scientist in the Department of Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics at Colorado State University and has been involved in numerous economic impact studies. She will briefly present results from a study evaluating the economic contributions of irrigated cropping to the San Luis Valley in Colorado. Dr. Hill will then discuss the broader economic methods used to calculate the economic impacts of information provision and disaster management and discuss how economic analysis could potentially be applied to evaluate the economic impacts of NOAA research.
