ENSO Response Comparison Plots
Updated!
Composite (average) atmospheric variables associated with 10 El Niño and 10 La Niña events from 1948 to the present. Events are defined for winter (Nov-Mar) and summer (May-Sep). Anomalies are defined as the difference from a 30 year climatolgy centered on the ENSO year for anomalies. This was done to reduce the impact of trends on the results. Options are available for comparing El Niño to La Niña, anomalies to means and winter to summer.
If you would like to see the more traditional anomalies, go to our web page that uses 1991-2020 for the climatology.
