Experiments
The CMIP6 experiements represented in NOAA's Climate Change Portal are the Historical, SSP5-8.5, SSP3-7.0, SSP2-4.5 and SSP1-2.6. The historical experiments are forced with observed climate forcing (CO2, volcanos, solar activity) through the year 2005. The future experiments are defined by strength of the radiative forcing in 2100, aka "Shared Socioecconomic Pathways" or SSPss. The CO2 emissions, the radiative forcing and the global mean teperature for each SSP are shown in the following figure.
