Robert Pincus recognized by American Geophysical Union for excellence in refereeing
June 5, 2014
This month, Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union (AGU) announced the AGU 2013 Editors' Citations for Excellence in Refereeing, which includes Dr. Robert Pincus; a CIRES research scientist working in ESRL's Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL). Every year, AGU journal editors are asked to select the outstanding reviewers from the previous year for this honor. These individuals are commended for consistently providing constructive and thoughtful reviews. Pincus was cited by editor Steven Ghan for the Journal of Geophsyical Research: Atmospheres.
At PSL, Pincus works on a wide range of problems related to clouds, radiation and remote sensing, and climate. "About five years ago I decided that the goal of peer review is to produce the best possible papers,” he says. “This has made the process more fun and constructive in all my roles – as an author trying to get the most out of the reviews of my own work, as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems (another AGU journal) helping authors understand how to reshape a manuscript, and especially as a reviewer, where my job is to help authors present the most important parts of their work in the clearest possible way.”
Congratulations Robert!
