About
Haonan Chen has been an Affiliate Research Scientist at the NOAA Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) and a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU) since August 2020. He is also an Affiliate faculty with the Data Science Research Institute (DSRI) at CSU. He worked at NOAA/PSL through CIRA during 2012 - 2020, first as a Research Student, then a National Research Council (NRC) Research Associate and a Radar, Satellite, and Precipitation Research Scientist. His research interests span a broad range of remote sensing and multidisciplinary data science, including radar and satellite observations of natural disasters, polarimetric radar systems and networking, multiscale hydrometeorological data fusion in smart city applications, big data analytics, and deep learning. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles in these areas.
