CIRES researcher Michael Goodliff joined the Attribution and Predictability Assessments Team in June 2020. Michael is working with PSL's Steve Penny to develop novel data assimilation capabilities using new advances in artificial intelligence and deep learning.

Michael earned his Ph.D. in hybrid data assimilation in 2016 from the University of Reading, England. Before coming to Boulder, he did postdocs at Colorado State University, Fort Collins looking at non-Gaussian data assimilation and machine learning, and at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany researching coupled data assimilation.
