Roger Pulwarty contributes to UN Special Report on Drought

NOAA Physical Sciences Laboratory Senior Scientist Roger Pulwarty presented key findings at the launch of the UN Office of Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Global Assessment Special Report on Drought (GAR 2021). The launch was held June 17th as part of the UN World Day on Desertification and Drought. Pulwarty is one of the convening lead authors of the report, which explores the systemic nature of drought and its impacts on achievement of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development Goals, and human and ecosystem health and wellbeing. Dr. Jane Lubchenco, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and former NOAA Administrator, provided a keynote speech, along with opening remarks made by the Director Generals of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the European Commission Joint Research Centre.
