Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) from the U of Washington
Describes SST variability in the north Pacific Ocean.
Correlation of the PDO (U of Washington) with NOAA ERSST V5 SST for January.
Description
-
Updated standardized values for the PDO index, derived as the leading Principal Component of monthly SST anomalies in the North Pacific Ocean, poleward of 20N. The monthly mean global average SST anomalies are removed to separate this pattern of variability from any "global warming" signal that may be present in the data.
Temporal Coverage
- Monthly values: 1900/01 to near present
- Update Status: Monthly
Data Notes
-
Units: degC
